Cultural heritage is often divided and shared between the public and private spheres, a personal treasure that an individual may choose or not choose to share with the public and the community.
Cultural heritage is about being an individual and a community; it encompasses traditions, cultures, legends, stories, and customs that shape and distinguish us.
In The Melting Pot project aims to explore those mixed, nomadic, migratory, fragmented, and blurred identities that lie between the place of origin and changes, new discoveries, and customs learned. In the photographs, the subjects depict parts of the stories that were shared with me, becoming protagonists themselves, bringing those tales from distant worlds and times to new places and settings, caught between the past and the future.
The succession of faces, glances, and characters that bring their individuality into a group—whether it is a group of people, photographs, or stories—wants to recreate those gatherings around the hearth, those exchanges of knowledge, customs, and traditions typical of communities and the shaping of character through a common knowledge, but interpreted in a contemporary and global context.
